FAQ

Why should I learn with Harewood Driving School?

We are professional and passionate about driving safety. We are focused on teaching safe driving techniques and consideration and awareness of other road users. Your lessons are structured and developed in stages. We work with you to develop your skills, at a pace you are comfortable with.

How many driving lessons do I need?

All learning requires effort and motivation, so the more time you practice the sooner your lessons will advance. If you have some previous experience on roads, such as cycling or riding a scooter, or motorcycle, you will already have some experience with road and traffic conditions.

A new driver with no previous experience may need approximately 20 lessons. If you have had several lessons with an experienced driver you may only need 5-8 lessons before your restricted driving test.

If I live outside of North-West Christchurch can I learn with you?

We can happily arrange this. Contact us directly to discuss options further.

What may I expect during a lesson?

Lessons are normally about 1 hour. I don’t charge any fees for preparation or planning time, or any of my administration time.

We will review your previous learning and go over any questions or concerns. The current lesson will be discussed and the expected skills and the outcome we hope to achieve.

We will discuss the expected traffic, route to be taken and any possible alternative route.

During the lesson, we may include stops to talk over any questions or have a review of any new skills or situations.

After the lesson, we have a further review and discuss and plan the next appointment.

What do lessons cost ?

Lessons are $85 and take approximately 1 hour. Driving skills are taught in our car and the fee includes all lesson preparation and administration time.

Your lesson can start from a school or another address by arrangement, or from my address at St Clair Close, Harewood, Christchurch
